Recommended Read: Mindset, Carol Dweck

From the back cover:
After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D., discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset.
People with a fixed mindset, those who believe that abilities are fixed, are less likely to flourish than those with a growth mindset– those who believe that abilities can be developed.
Here is why I think this is important for those of us on a spiritual journey.

Legalism tells us that we are screwed up, failure, it's all over, and label us as miserable losers.  We have to rely on our works in order to gain favor with God.

God's grace says that we have the ability to be transformed by the renewing of our minds and then we can grow to be who God called us to be.

I also believe spiritually speaking a Fixed Mindset says that when we pray for something or believe we are called to something that God has one way he is going to do things and if it doesn't happen the way we believe it will or ought to, then forget it because it's all about God answering the prayer the way we think he should.  Fixed Mindset Spirituality is all about the outcome.

A growth mindset says that the goal is not the outcome....it is who we become in the process and most importantly the glory of God.  As Brother Richard at Shiloh Church told me, God is intentional but unconventional.  Our spiritual journeys are about our GROWTH and not just outcomes.

It's not just about getting what we want.  It's about growing to become who God needs us to be in order to accomplishes his purposes for our lives.

Growth mindsets embrace challenging, learning, developing strategies, studying, and the process.  That is key on a spiritual journey because otherwise it becomes too discouraging with all of the detours and unconventional methods that God uses.

This book is a must read for any Christian, entrepreneur, manager, coach, teacher, leader, parent, partner, spouse….well everyone who wants to GROW and not stay stuck wherever they are!!
