Pandemic Chronicles #2 - The Significance of The Lord's Passover

I was asked to do a video for the Shiloh Impact Ministry as one of the Leaders for the Ministry.

At this time I am in the very early stages of my teaching/preaching work in the Kingdom and so I'm still learning my process.

It seems to be that the Holy Spirit whispers to me the Topic we're going to cover and then it becomes my mission to learn more about it.  I have a journal to record insights, observations, and scriptures for the lesson.

Now this Video was only to be at most 3 minutes which is hard for me so this had to be the most important information.

Right after I received the Text to do the video...The Holy Spirit said, "Talk to the people about Passover."

I realized I didn't know that much about Passover and so of course I went to Amazon to see if there was a book where I could have more of a foundation on how the celebration went and what to be aware of.

Amazon to the rescue!  I got a great book on Kindle called: What Every Christian should know about Passover.  (I'll link the book at the end of this Blog Post)

What I enjoyed about the book was that it really did help me understand the connection between that First Passover and what happened many Passovers later when the unblemished Lamb went out and poured his blood out for us.

God's Intentional Timing

As I began to reflect upon the  Passover, I thought to myself that it simply could not be a coincidence that we were going through this Covid-19 Pandemic during the Passover Season.  It wasn't a coincidence and so what did what God want us to get out of this time.

We can Trust God in Uncertain Times

The Israelites seemed to be in Bad Shape.  Things seemed to be getting worse before they were getting better.  This guy Moses was supposed to be going to Pharaoh to tell him "Let my People Go" but Pharoah wasn't letting nobody go!  They had plague after plague going upon the land but wasn't nothing changing except the people were having to work harder.

This wasn't going well.  It was a time of tremendous uncertainty.  Was God going to set the Israelites free as he had promised?

The First Passover

11 “These are your instructions for eating this meal: Be fully dressed,[a] wear your sandals, and carry your walking stick in your hand. Eat the meal with urgency, for this is the Lord’s Passover.
12 On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt, for I am the Lord!
13 But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.

God had told the people that he was going to set them free and he did.
God could be trusted to keep his promises
In that time of uncertainty he came through for them

He has done the same for us: Jesus, the Passover Lamb

Many Passovers later the Lamb of God Jesus went to the Cross to shed Blood

Ephesians 1:7 (Good News Translation)

For by the blood of Christ[a] we are set free, that is, our sins are forgiven. How great is the grace of God,

1 Peter 1:18-19

18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. 19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

Great News!

There is great news that we too are covered by the Blood of Jesus! We are protected and covered his blood.  His blood heals and sets us free.

Just like the Israelites we can trust God in times of uncertainty because he has made provision for us through Jesus the lamb of God.

Bringing the Cross back into Focus

I think Church teaching has gotten out of balance in many ways.  We can have all the relationship, financial, and live your best life series in the world but what makes any of this possible?  JESUS!  Do people know him as Savior and Lord or do they just know him as the Genie in the Bottle that you can rub the right way and get the nice and neat Christian life to post about on social media.

During this Pandemic and During this Passover/Easter Season I really believe the focus needs to be on Jesus.

The week of Passover/Easter was predicted to be the worst for the Covid19 Pandemic.

That cannot be an accident.

We are celebrating two events that started out very dark and in the case of Passover, there were innocent Egyptians who suffered tremendous loss due to the hard heart of Pharaoh and the power of God.

With the crucifixion, I always think of how Jesus' disciples must have felt.  Here they were with this guy for 3 years and they believed he was the Messiah and Son of God.

After he was crucified they probably thought they made it all up and this was just wishful thinking.  Well we do get a glimpse of what some were thinking on the Road to Emmaus.

Luke 24: 17-21

They stopped short, sadness written across their faces. 18 Then one of them, Cleopas, replied, “You must be the only person in Jerusalem who hasn’t heard about all the things that have happened there the last few days.”
19 “What things?” Jesus asked.
“The things that happened to Jesus, the man from Nazareth,” they said. “He was a prophet who did powerful miracles, and he was a mighty teacher in the eyes of God and all the people. 20 But our leading priests and other religious leaders handed him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified him. 21 We had hoped he was the Messiah who had come to rescue Israel. This all happened three days ago.

Then of course their eyes were opened to the resurrected Jesus and they go to tell the rest of the people that Jesus is ALIVE!

We can Trust God in Times of Uncertainty

The truth of the matter is that we can trust God in times of Uncertainty like this one.  This is something completely different than most of us have ever experienced.
Many distractions are shut down and like the Children of Israel we are solely dependent on God for deliverance in this hour.

The Church must get the message out that we can trust God in Times of Uncertainty.  No, we don't have the answers to the How and maybe not even all the why.  All we know is that God's name will be Glorified in all the Earth and then people will know that he is the Lord.

I personally believe that we are heading into The Great Awakening of the 21st Century and a Revival like we have not seen in 100 years.

We must trust God in his methods as he brings this about!!

History will prove whether or not I was right but we cannot deny that there is a shift taking place.

Let us Trust God in this time of Uncertainty and not forget the Lessons of the Passover!

What the Enemy meant for evil we be turned for Good and many Lives will be saved! (Genesis 50:20)
